In this video tutorial I show you how to easily flash firmware on Rockchip devices, without pressing any Recovery button (if it's hidden or there is no Recovery button). In my case I used Elephone TV Box.
1. First of all, install on your PC the Rockchip drivers using RK Driver Assistant v4.1. If your PC has Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, make sure to disable driver signature enforcement. If your PC has Windows 8.1 x64 bit, like in my case, follow this tutorial to easily install Rockchip driver.
2. Download Rockchip Batch Tool v1.8 from here. Download your device firmware image then launch Rockchip Batch Tool v1.8 and select the firmware image (Press '...' button on the first row --> FW path).
3. Put your Rockchip device in Recovery mode. To do that connect your device to your TV, turn it on, check 'Connect to PC' in Settings and enable 'USB Debugging'. Navigate to Settings > About Phone > scroll to the bottom > tap Build number seven (7) times. You'll get a short pop-up in the lower area of your display saying that you're now a developer. Go back and now access the Developer options menu, check ‘USB debugging’ and click OK on the prompt.
4. Connect your Rockchip device to your PC through OTG port. First position on 'Connected Devices' will be pink, press 'Switch' button and it will turn into green colour. Now your Rockchip device is in Recovery mode and you can flash your firmware.
That’s it, you’re done!
I guess you can easily apply this tutorial on any cylindrical Android TV Box with Rockchip CPU, like:
- Elephone TV Box
- Ippli Mars i8
- Ippli ip.i9
- MK Z1
- X88 Cylinder RK3188
or
- Ippli Mars i2
- Ippli Mars i2c
